By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Beirut Université Libanaise - Faculté de Pédagogie - Deanship 2013Description: 40 pagesSubject(s): Online resources: Abstract: The aim of this action research is to find out whether the use of the interactive whiteboard with GeoGebra will affect the performance and motivation of the students of grade 7 in “transformations”. The study took place in two classes at Sagesse High School. In one class the lesson was given by using the interactive whiteboard with GeoGebra and in the other class by using a white board only. In the two classes inquiry-based teaching was used and the students were given the opportunity to observe and come up with conclusions about the characteristics of the object and its image. At the end of this period which took around one week, a posttest was given to the students in order to compare the results, a survey was filled by each student and interviews with randomly selected students were done in order to test the level of engagement and motivation. In analyzing the data collected during this study, I noticed that there was strong evidence to support that the interactive white board had a positive effect on students’ engagement and motivation in a math class. As to the performance of the students in the posttest, the results of the students that used the interactive white board were better than the results of the other group. So overall, it can be said that the use of the interactive whiteboard with GeoGebra had a positive impact on the learning process.
