It also aimed at investigating the achievement level of reading comprehension in English on the use of these strategies. A sample of sixty eighth-grade students classified as poor and good readers was chosen according to the following method: the students were given a comprehension cloze test. After the test was scored, the students were divided into two groups: the group of high achievers, and the group of low achievers. The results were also compared with the students’ marks in English in the same scholastic year. Finally, the English teacher was consulted about the classification of each category.
