TextPublication details: Beirut Université Libanaise - Faculté de Pédagogie - Deanship 2013Description: 48 pagesSubject(s): Online resources: Abstract: The effect of implementing a guidance program on grade three students has been my focus in this action research. The current action research emerged from the way I witnessed students as well as teachers deal with conflicts. This research investigated the effect of “Stop, think, act” as well as “Talk it Out” strategies on twenty-five grade three students. Verbal and physical abuse as well as referrals to supervisors were measured using frequency recordings. Behavioral observations were done two times: pre-training and post-training phases. Attitudes of parents and educators, such as teachers and supervisors, towards conflicts were also taken into consideration. Interviews were held with school educators and a questionnaire was distributed to parents. Analysis of the results of observations before and after the implementation of the training on conflict resolution strategies showed significant effect on verbal as well as physical abuse. Moreover, recommendations for further research were proposed.
