520 3 _aThe effects of recess activities on aggressive behavior were studied in this action research. The population included eight students in the fifth grade at Notre Dame de la Déliverance School in Mount Lebanon. A four-week frame was the time employed to obtain the results. The main target of the intervention was to reduce the violence present among these students in the playground by means of structuring the recess time along with coaching them via guidance sessions. After conducting structured observations in the playground with the help of the teachers, recess changes were made and violence was reduced. Pre- and post-observation checklists for teachers and students were used as tools in order to conduct the study. This study succeeded to show how the process of organizing play was not only valuable for determining problem definition and potential interventions, but was also necessary to determine the best methods for solutions in relation to recess games, and to create a space to lower children’s hostility.
