520 3 _aDiscipline is necessary to promote students’ cognitive and emotional development and to teach students how to follow rules and become good citizens. Positive discipline must be educative and preserve students’ dignity. This study will explore the benefits of implementing a new approach in positive discipline, a system called the Raise Responsibility System. Since the role of schools is to develop students’ social and cognitive growth, Dr. Marvin Marshall created the Raise Responsibility System to promote responsible behavior among students. The Raise Responsibility System was be implemented in a private school in north Lebanon over a 4-month period. The aim of the intervention was to explore the impact of the system on grade-one students’ behavior and the challenges that teachers might face with the system. Data were gathered through observations and interviews. The results of the data suggest that several inherent obstacles, including home climate, negatively impact the implementation of the Raise Responsibility System in this context.
