520 3 _aThe purpose of this study is to identify the degree of congruence between each director's self-perception of his/her use of the four leadership frames (as measured by the Bolman and Deal Orientations (Self) survey instrument) and the perceptions of the teachers of his/her division regarding the use of those frames (as measured by the Bolman and Deal's Orientations Survey Instrument). The study was done in a Lebanese private school where the self-perceptions of three division directors will be compared respectively to a random sample of twenty teachers from each division. The study also seeked to show whether each of the three directors use one or more frame(s) as he/she interprets events and attempts to understand the situation at hand.--Data analysis of this study was essentially developed from questionnaire analysis, interviews and direct quotations of principals. On the Leadership Orientations (Other and Self), self-perception responses as well as teachers' responses were coded numerically and statistically analyzed through the use of a five point Likert scale. In order to determine the degree of congruence between each director's self perception of his/her use of the four leadership styles and the perceptions of his/her teachers regarding his/her use of those frames, the mean scores of the teachers and directors* perceptions on each the four frames of leadership orientations were computed and compared at a significance of .05 alpha level. In order to determine the director's skills in single or multiple-frame usage, the directors' mean scores on each frame were compared to the absolute value of 5.00 of the Leadership Orientations instrument scale.--The results indicated that congruence varied between each director and his/her teachers' perceptions of the use of leadership frames. The multi-frame usage of each director varied from one to another. However, the results showed that there is a tendency for all directors to a more frequent use of the Structural and the Human Resource frames in favour of the Political and the Symbolic frames. When related to our Lebanese context, the study findings can serve as a guide in helping administrators and principals learn about recent school leadership where they can discover new possibilities and expand their own leadership effectiveness.
