520 3 _aThe purpose of the study was to examine the attitudes of Lebanese secondary scho ol students towards MSA, to examine the participants' attitudes towards Arab nat ional identity and culture, to find out whether there is a statistically signifi cant relationship between attitudes to MSA and attitudes to Arab National Identi ty and Culture, and to see whether there is a statistically significant relation ship between attitudes to MSA and the variables age, grade, gender, and school The research questions were investigated using an attitudes questionnaire which was administered to 427 participants in grades 10, 11 and 12 at three different schools in West Beirut. Findings suggest that the participants harbor positive i ntegrative orientations towards MSA and very positive attitudes towards Arab nat ional identity and culture, while they have weak instrumental orientations to MS A and negative perception of the status of MSA in the Lebanese society. Recommendations were made in light of the results.
