During the study, the experimental group received DABI and the control group received Traditionally Based Instruction (TBI). Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) and Logarithm Achievement Test (LAT) were administered as pre-test and post-test respectively. In addition, a questionnaire, Students’ Views and Attitudes (SVA) about DABI and interviews were administered to determine students’ views and attitudes toward DABI. The statistical analysis of the results shows that there is a significant difference between the scores of the students in the logarithm achievement test (the post-test) whereas the pre-test shows no differences. This means that the learners who were in the guided discovery based instruction have achieved the concepts and the properties of logarithmic function. According to open-ended questions of SVA and interview results, DABI provided permanence of the logarithm subject, enjoyment, self-confidence and facilitation of the subject. The results of the questionnaire and interviews showed that students in the experimental group supported the effectiveness of DABI and revealed that they had positive opinions about the implementation of this instructional unit ER -
