It is one of the widest areas of second language acquisition research. It is how the learner’s first and second languages influence the acquisition of a third language. Present research suggests that the multilingual dynamic differs from L1 effects during second language acquisition. This literature review will examine L1 and L2 transfer during third language acquisition within the general context of cross linguistic influence. Language transfer will be discussed by the variables that work and act together when two or more languages come into contact. The variables are identified as learner based or language based, and each discussed in backgrounds of L2 and L3 acquisition. A particular area of focus will be mixture of structures and unconscious process of L2 items during L3 production. The purpose of this paper hold a key of understanding a whole collection of observations is that bilingual proficiency is internally differentiated in a number of interesting ways. The study used questionnaires to acquire the student’s source language for cross linguistic influence. Trying to analyze how negative transfer affects the process of writing a second language acquisition.
