The focus of this study was to explore the lack of parental involvement in the academic department of a school for students with special needs. The research was guided by the following questions: 1) Why were parents not involved in school activities? and 2) In what ways could parental involvement be increased? Forty-four parents participated. This study involved observation, journal entries, log, and survey. Based on personal observations, a literature review, and the results, the study aimed at identifying recommendations to bridge the existing gap between school and home.
