By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Beirut American University of Beirut - Faculty of Medicine Department of Epidemiology and Population Health 2011Description: 207 pagesSubject(s): Online resources: Abstract: The study examines risk and protective factors for perceived sex refusal skills as an outcome among Lebanese adolescents aged 11 to 16 years old using the most recent, nationally representative Global School Health Survey conducted in Lebanon in 2005. It also explores the views of public school health educators about the new sexual education curriculum and their comfort level with conveying skills-based sex education to Lebanese adolescents through qualitative interviews with a sample of teachers. The study uses descriptive analysis and multivariate logistic regressions that were performed on the Global School Health Survey data to determine the level and determinants of perceived sex refusal skills and in-depth interviews with educators. It provides useful information that can be used for program planning and intervention purposes to promote the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents through a better understanding of their knowledge, attitudes and possible practices.
