Summary, etc.	Enseigner la géographie, c'est construire chez les élèves un rapport géographique au monde, c'est-à-dire un savoir opératoire, produit avec les outils d'une discipline arrimée à la géographie scientifique, dans le but d'étayer les choix réfléchis de citoyens.Si le projet de la géographie scolaire peut être ainsi défini, sa traduction en programmes hésite entre innovations et traditions. Au modèle classique de compréhension géographique du monde qui visait l'adhésion des élèves à un tableau du monde autocentré, se substitue progressivement un modèle qui cherche à les convaincre du bien-fondé de la construction de solidarités et d'une unité sociale à plusieurs échelons, du territoire de proximité à l'espace-monde.L'ouvrage tente donc, d'une part, de restituer cette logique d'une discipline en transition, chargée de préparer les élèves à vivre dans le monde en mutation qu'ils contribueront à façonner et, d'autre part, de rendre compte de la part d'invention et de variation que les professeurs d'histoire-géographie introduisent par leurs pratiques dans ce schéma général de transition.
