| Summary, etc. | Throughout the decades, writing has been considered as an important process that helps learners to think more deeply about their ideas and information they encounter through reading, listening, and experiencing the world around them. A quantitative and qualitative experimental study was conducted and aimed to investigate whether 1) the materials given in an EFL classroom affect students positively and motivate them to write critically, 2) teaching critical thinking through reflective writing leads students to write critically and effectively, and 3) constructive feedback provided to students on their writing skills improves their writing skills. The instruments used for this study were two questionnaires, an interview and a scoring rubric. Results indicated that the experimental students improved in using critical thinking skills in their reflective writings and their attitude toward writing changed positively unlike the control group students who did not show a significant change. These results reflected the importance of teaching critical thinking through reflective writing in EFL classrooms. |
