Summary, etc. This research studies how supervisors, teachers and administrators of the English language in Lebanese private and public schools perceive the role of the English language supervisor and how supervisors practice it. The research adopts qualitative methods where two different interviews were used with principals and teachers and a structured questionnaire is used with supervisors in 26 public and private schools spread in various regions in Lebanon. This research reveals that in general supervisors believe in modern supervision as a vehicle of teachers’ empowerment and less in the old view of supervision as a control process. However, most supervisors in this study are in reality operating according to the old view of the purpose of supervision. Regarding the principals, they believe in the role of supervisors that has direct impact on the efficiency of the educational system and success of students. They have high perspectives of the professional level of the supervisor in language and in teaching. They know supervision is authorized by the government and is needed in schools. Regarding teachers, they have big expectations from the supervisor to help them improve academically and professionally, but they have their own worries not to achieve this progress since the research reveals that a big percentage of them does not consider that the supervisor is qualified enough to help them.
