Summary, etc. Literature provides a very challenging and creative medium for language instruction. Learning the different language skills of reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and so on, becomes very easy in the context of an interesting story or an appealing poem. Literary texts invite students to identify with them and search for instances that are closely related to their real lives, which facilitates natural and unconscious language acquisition. The present research investigates, with special interest, the various benefits of using Shakespearean literature in the English as a second language (ESL) classroom, specifically the seventh grade classroom. Contrary to the general misconceptions that Shakespeare is difficult and unmanageable in the intermediate level, this paper shows the positive effects of using such canon literature due to its universal themes and the richness of plot and characterization. The researcher presents some examples on ways of using Shakespearean texts to arouse students' interests and stimulate the language learning process. Finally, the last section of this research presents different sets of activities depicted from Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream, which are specifically designed for language instruction.
